I suppose I started noticing something different about myself, or as someone recently approached me and said the exact same thing. It was truly one of those surreal ‘pinch me’ moments. ”

Hailing from Dundalk, Ireland, Patrick was always a creative individual, having doubled in arts and theater, music, and performance. He charted a unique path, distinct from the conventional education that suggested a career in business and economics. This is the remarkable story of how Patrick turned his passion for hairstyling into a thriving career, gaining international recognition and winning the prestigious Irish Hairdressing Federation Barber Specialist category.Patrick’s journey began with a passion for creating things with his hands. After a brief stint in retail, he found himself assisting in his auntie’s hair salon, which sparked his interest in hairstyling. This experience led him to take the plunge and attain an apprenticeship at a local hairdresser’s, where he spent five years honing his skills and developing his commitment to providing a unique experience for each client.
As Patrick continued to develop his skills, he was captivated by the wave of a new era in hairstyling, driven by social media and the collective of Irish Barbers. This marked a turning point in his career as he aligned himself with the changing industry landscape. Having never been able to get the haircut he wanted as a boy, Patrick started to experiment and replicate the styles of steam barbers. He leveraged Instagram to showcase his work, building a strong clientele base in the salon while refining his skills. Patrick’s journey took a significant turn when he was offered a job by Glenn Mc Goldrick of MENSPIRE Leadership. Recognizing this as the opportunity of a lifetime, Patrick joined what he felt was the best of the best in the industry. Over five years, and despite facing the challenges of a global pandemic, Patrick found himself at the helm of MENSPIRE Academy Ireland. He took on the role of developing and teaching full-time professional and beginner courses, helping countless individuals further their careers or embark on a new journey in the hairstyling industry. Patrick’s commitment and expertise have taken him to multiple countries where he presented at showcases and developed a variety of in-person and online educational programs. Theseinitiatives have empowered hundreds of barbers and hairstylists to enhance their skills and careers. One of Patrick’s most recent achievements is particularly noteworthy. He was awarded first place in the Irish Hairdressing Federation Barber Specialist category, marking a significant milestone in his career.
