I’m Marie Rainsford a barber/stylist from Limerick Ireland, I am also the Leading Educator for the OP45 UK Team. I started my career at the very young age of 15 in my mom’s friend’s hair salon while still at school, working in that salon you just got stuck in and learned quickly, which I loved. I realized young that this was the industry I would be in, I liked being around people, and doing trade and getting creative was an outlet for me and my job. I was hairdressing for about 10 years and went travelling Australia where I found my love for barbering and ran with it from there. I also went to Canada a little while after and did a short apprenticeship in a traditional shop to up my skills in traditional barbering and shaving. I think my discipline and work ethic come a lot from my parents but also from playing sports at a county level growing up. I still love to play and will do it for as long as I can.
My massive career achievement has been winning the OP Barber of the Year and Most Creative awards at the OP45 Hairshow in the UK. The best thing about this industry is that it is forever changing and evolving and that you can learn something from everyone and communicate with people worldwide. I currently work in Odd a Co-working Space which is amazing because I can provide a service for everyone, barbering styles or Hairdressing styles. Learning the DFS Formula system has brought back my love and understanding of cutting longer lengths. Since becoming an Educator it has been an absolute joy to truly help people in their careers and show them how they can become better versions of themselves. That’s what it’s all about for me and I am very blessed I get to share my knowledge and experiences with so many people. I am really big into continuous education and mindset and always trying to improve myself and I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with the right people. I also love doing photoshoots and collaborating with people from all walks of the world. What’s next for me?.. Continue to Educate and grow my career and also who I am as a person. I will be doing a lot of stage work and 1-2-1 Education this year so keep an eye out, it’s a cliche I know but I genuinely believe this is only the beginning for me and my journey.
